Riyad Bank has launched the first banking innovation for point-of-sale payments via a smart wristband or mobile sticker for Riyad Bank customers who hold Mada cards, making it the first Saudi bank to launch this service as part of its strategy for continuous development and the creation of distinctive banking solutions that live up to its customers” trust, meet their expectations, and reinforce the bank’s leading position in the banking sector.

On this occasion, Riyad Al-Zahrani, Executive Vice President of Retail Banking at the bank, explained that the launch of this service is part of the electronic payment solutions offered by Riyad Bank, driven by the bank’s commitment to enriching its long-standing experience in digital banking with the latest advancements in banking technology, as well as its ongoing efforts to maintain its excellence and provide customers with greater convenience and security in meeting their banking needs.

Al-Zahrani added: “The smart wristband and payment sticker utilize ”Mada” technology and enable customers to pay for low-value purchases through point-of-sale terminals across the Kingdom that support the Atheer service. This is done by swiping the wristband or tapping the payment sticker—which can be easily attached to the back of a mobile phone — directly in front of the terminal without needing to insert an ATM card or enter a PIN, which means exceptional ease and speed of use that eliminates the need to carry cash while also providing a secure service.” He added: ”The smart wristband and payment sticker will soon be available at a number of Riyad Bank branches and can be obtained directly from the branch.”
