In partnership with the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development plans to sign a joint agreement aimed at providing 100,000 suitable housing units for social security beneficiaries most in need of housing
In its 2016 annual report, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development revealed that the agreement will define all responsibilities and roles assigned to each party, noting that criteria have been established for those most in need of housing, including beneficiary data and level of need, as well as their geographic region.
It clarified that a fatwa had been obtained authorizing the use of zakat funds for housing, which will help provide financing solutions to house the most housing-needy social security beneficiaries, noting that this measure will enable the Ministry of Housing to complete the program and provide the targeted housing units.
