The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has established a highly reliable and available municipal information center for information technology with the aim of providing innovative digital services to citizens and residents throughout the Kingdom and accelerating the pace of the massive digital transformation the Ministry is undergoing to achieveits strategic objectives, which are aligned with the standards of the National Transformation Program 2020 and Vision 2030,
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs is one of the leading government agencies that continuously strives to improve the quality of life in cities, while protecting the environment and natural resources throughout the Kingdom, by providing numerous services such as urban planning, town and village development, and environmental and public health protection through 16 regional municipal centers and 269 local municipal centers.
Thanks to the deployment of the vRealize® Suite cloud management platform from VMware, as a key component of Dell EMC’s hybrid cloud for enterprises, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs« Municipal Information Center is now able to provide a centralized, cloud-based, self-service portal for its municipalities.
IT services will be delivered directly, automatically, and with high availability, enabling the ministry to introduce new digital services to citizens 200 percent faster, while reallocating 30 percent of the IT budget toward the development of future offerings, in accordance with the Ministry’s requirements and needs.
In this context, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah, Director of the Municipal Information Center at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, said: "Thanks to this joint collaboration with both VMware and Dell EMC, we now have a cloud platform that delivers municipal digital services at a faster pace to both businesses and citizens throughout the Kingdom to meet their current and future needs and requirements. As a result of the digital transformation it is undergoing, the Ministry has been able to implement this project very quickly, in accordance with the standards of the National Transformation Program 2020 and Saudi Vision 2030, while also providing high-quality government services."
