His Highness said after chairing the first meeting to follow up the progress of work on the project at his office at the Riyadh Emirate in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Abdullah, Deputy Emir of Riyadh and Vice Chairman of the Riyadh Development Authority. «During the first meeting to follow up the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in the city of Riyadh, a briefing was presented on the trains project and what has been achieved since the signing of the contract until this day,» said the Emir of Riyadh, explaining that they listened during the meeting to an integrated presentation of what has been done in the project to date in the presence of members of the Riyadh Development Authority and the participation of the regional council and municipal council.

Prince Khalid bin Bandar, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the implementation of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project (train and buses), chaired last week the first regular meeting that His Highness directed to hold monthly to follow up the progress of work on the public transport project, in the presence of Prince Turki bin Abdullah. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of Riyadh Region Engineer Abdullah Al-Muqbel, member of the Supreme Authority for the Development of Riyadh City, Head of the Projects and Planning Center, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sultan, specialists in the Authority, representatives of the international consortia implementing the project and representatives of the management and supervision body.

<Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sultan explained that His Highness was briefed on the progress of work on the Riyadh train project, whose implementation contracts were signed earlier with: (Pax Consortium, Riyadh New Mobility Consortium, and FAST Consortium, which includes major international companies in the fields of train manufacturing, civil works, tunneling, communication and control systems, management and design.
Sultan explained that His Highness was briefed on the progress of work on the Riyadh train project, which was signed earlier.
A member of the Supreme Authority for the Development of Riyadh City, Chairman of the Projects and Planning Center, explained that the consortia have started to carry out many preparatory field works, which include: The preparation of detailed designs for all train tracks, passenger stations, overnight and maintenance centers and public parking lots, preparatory works that include cadastral elevations, the start of conducting about 1050 soil tests on the number of all train tracks, including 505 tests to be conducted on (the track of the Al Olaya Al Batha Road axis), in addition to conducting a study of various alternatives for excavation work to ensure that the impact on traffic is minimized, while the contract with international factories to manufacture the giant excavation equipment for the project (TBM Machine) which is scheduled to be completed and dispatched.
Expropriation of real estate
On the expropriation of real estate for the project, work is currently underway to finalize the expropriation procedures for a number of remaining properties after completing the inventory reports for 98% of these properties, and the consortiums are working to finalize many complementary supporting works for the project, such as administrative and systematic equipment, developing management and quality control plans, coordination, identifying and securing major equipment and labor, and equipping site offices and workshops.
The Authority formed a committee to coordinate with the relevant authorities related to public utilities in the city, to follow up and overcome the requirements of transferring services during the implementation of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in Riyadh, provide information on services and public utilities that impede the implementation of the project works, and issue approvals for the transfer works to the project contractors, while an agreement was signed with the Saudi Electricity Company to provide the project with electricity through the company's construction of four new main stations and expansion of eight existing stations, and the Authority prepared a traffic management plan to avoid traffic impacts
During the meeting, the Emir of Riyadh was briefed on the elements of the media campaign to introduce the project, which includes a range of activities and events, including a mobile exhibition in a number of major shopping malls, universities and exhibitions held in the city. At the end of the meeting, H.H. directed the Chairman of the Supreme Committee supervising the implementation of the project to work to minimize the effects of the project works on the flow of traffic in the city, and to take care of public safety aspects, whether for the residents of the city or workers in the project.
