Appointment of Engineer Nasser Al-Nasser as Acting CEO of Saudi Telecom Group

Saudi Telecom Group announced the appointment of Engineer Nasser Al-Nasser as the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Dr. Khalid Bayari, who was appointed by royal decree as Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs the day before yesterday.

In a statement, the Board of Directors of Saudi Telecom expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Bayari for his outstanding efforts during his tenure as the Group’s CEO.

The new CEO, Engineer Nasser Al-Nasser, is one of the company’s senior executives; in his most recent role, he served as Senior Vice President of Technology and Operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector, beginning with the launch of mobile services in 1996. He played a key role in establishing and expanding the mobile network, and subsequently moved to the Communications and Information Technology Commission, During that time, he played a key role in opening up the market and issuing licenses for mobile and data services. He also worked at Mobily as head of the Networks and Information Technology division and serves on the boards of directors of Türk Telekom and the Turkish company Avia.
