How many times have we wronged others because of our misunderstanding of their situations, perspectives, or actions—the meaning or reasons behind which we may not have grasped at the time? Wisdom and discernment urge us not to judge others based merely on a fleeting situation or a misunderstanding, which may have valid reasons from the person’s own perspective. We should give others space in many different life situations, think the best of them, and not judge things based on our own expectations.

In one of the wooden houses nestled in a corner of the vast forest, a hunter left his infant son sleeping in his crib, guarded by the dog he had raised for years and loved dearly, and the man set out to hunt some wild rabbits to feed his family and sell the rest in the nearby town. He was away from home for a few hours, and there he sensed danger for his infant son, whom he had left alone. Unable to continue his usual daily outing, his anxiety grew, so he decided to hurry back home, racing against time, his steps verging on a run.

The rabbits he had caught were falling from him one after another, but he paid no attention to them, Finally, he approached the house and found his dog sitting alone in a corner, exhausted, his face and paws stained with blood, He picked it up, and the man could no longer control himself; he pulled out his loaded revolver and emptied all his bullets into the traitorous dog’s head, killing it instantly.

He rushed like a madman into the house, fearing he might find the infant’s remains, and saw blood covering the floor, but he caught sight of the remains of a torn-up wolf. He turned to the bed and found his little son unharmed, still sleeping peacefully in his place, and realized that it was the dog who had fought the wolf and killed it to save the infant.

We must think a thousand times before judging people, for perhaps their hearts are boiling like cauldrons, or sorrow and pain are crushing them, and we are unaware… How many times have we lost people because we were too quick to judge them? How many decisions have we regretted making—only after it was too late? We’ve wronged ourselves and others because of suspicion, misunderstanding, and a one-sided view of things.
