The Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Eng. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Malik Al Sheikh, signed a contract for the King Khalid Road Bridge project at the Suwam al-Ghalal intersection in the Municipality of Ahad Rafidah, valued at 93,965,961 riyals, with a Chinese company for a duration of 720 days.

The Mayor of Ahad Rafidah Province, Muhammad Salim Al-Wadai, expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trusted Crown Prince for their support of the Kingdom’s development efforts and for facilitating all measures aimed at achieving Vision 2030.

Al-Wadai explained that the project is considered one of the region’s major projects, serving as a cultural landmark for the city; the bridge is 1,300 meters long, enabling travelers from Khamis Mushait and Sarat Abidah to use the bridge more easily and flexibly while complying with traffic regulations. The project also includes two aesthetically pleasing plazas to facilitate traffic entry and exit points, making traffic flow more smoothly. Traffic will circulate seamlessly under the bridge for users of Sawameh Al-Ghalal Road and Lazmah Road, and the design accounts for traffic density on a regular basis.

The project also includes the relocation of certain utility lines—such as water, telephone, and electricity—that interfere with construction. It further encompasses lighting, stormwater and flood drainage systems, sidewalks, and signage.
