The Public Transport Authority has begun finalizing preparations to launch the Public Transport Center in northern Riyadh on May 1, in accordance with its proposal to utilize the “Sar Train Station” in northeast Riyadh by allocating part of its site for the center’s operation, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Riyadh Region.
This developmental step by the Public Transport Authority in the capital, Riyadh, aims to facilitate service for buses carrying passengers heading to the north and east of the Kingdom, and to facilitate passengers’ access to the new station and the reception of those arriving there, starting Tuesday, 15 Sha’ban 1439 AH, corresponding to May 1, 2018.
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih, President of the Public Transport Authority, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Governor of the Riyadh Region, who provided significant support and encouragement for the implementation of this proposal aimed at developing public transportation in Riyadh and keeping pace with the growing demand for it, and thanked His Highness the Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region for the attention given to the transportation sector in the city of Riyadh.
His Excellency explained that with the increasing demand for bus trips to and from the capital, Riyadh, it has become necessary to provide modern stations outside the central area, which is characterized by heavy traffic and its distance from the capital’s northern and eastern neighborhoods. He noted that the northern public transportation station is scheduled to begin operations while the public transportation center in southern Riyadh continues to provide services to passengers.
