The IAEA delegation concluded its review of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to prepare the necessary infrastructure for the introduction of peaceful atomic energy to the Kingdom as part of the national energy system. During this review, the IAEA delegation was briefed on Saudi Arabia's efforts to prepare the necessary infrastructure to introduce peaceful atomic energy to the Kingdom as part of the national energy system, with the participation of relevant stakeholders and business partners from the relevant Saudi government agencies.
It is worth mentioning that the review was held at the headquarters of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy. <King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy is currently developing an integrated action plan in cooperation with partners representing different sectors in the country such as the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Electricity Regulatory Authority, Meteorological and Environmental Protection Authority, Saline Water Desalination Corporation, Saudi Geological Survey, and Saudi Aramco. <This visit is the first of its kind for the IAEA in terms of purpose and size of the event, where 14 IAEA experts were present in several areas related to the comprehensive review of the Kingdom's infrastructure. The city reviewed with the IAEA experts all components of the National Atomic Energy Project, which included large nuclear reactors, localization of technologies and construction of compact small atomic reactors, nuclear fuel cycle, regulation and oversight, nuclear and radiation safety authority, as well as the necessary preparations to introduce atomic energy into the current energy mix in the Kingdom, where Dr. Khaled bin Saleh Al <This review aims to focus on the mechanisms necessary to implement the national project and complete the infrastructure related to atomic energy, and the fulfillment of national and international obligations in matters related to atomic energy requires the active participation of the Kingdom and KAEC, along with other relevant government agencies, in the activities of committees, workshops and seminars supervised by the IAEA, as well as benefiting from the expertise of the IAEA regarding the experiences of previous countries in this field and applying the best practices provided by the IAEA to future countries. <His Excellency Dr. Al Sultan thanked the members of the IAEA delegation for their efforts in achieving the goals of the countries wishing to benefit from these technologies.
