The number of commercial paper enforcement orders filed with the Ministry of Justice for the past Hijri year 1439 was approximately 533,620, representing 78% of the total orders, with total funds estimated at more than 133 billion riyals. This was revealed by the Business Intelligence platform
The commercial papers received by the Kingdom’s enforcement courts included «orders for payment,» »bills of exchange,» and »checks,». Enforcement applicants now have access to user-friendly technical systems through which they can submit applications electronically and attach copies of supporting documents. The courts receive these applications and begin processing them entirely electronically.
Enforcement judges can verify the authenticity of the documents attached to the requests thanks to electronic links with 19 government and private entities, which has accelerated case processing, ensured the security and integrity of judicial operations, and enhanced the reliability of submitted documents.
His Excellency the Minister of Justice and President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani, launched the electronic verification and payment services with the aim of digitally transforming enforcement court procedures, thereby eliminating the need for beneficiaries to visit the courts in person, and help reduce the time required to enforce execution orders.
The Ministry of Justice confirmed that the digital transformation of the enforcement courts has eliminated the need for paper in judicial proceedings within the Kingdom’s enforcement courts, Enforcement courts were projected to consume more than 50 million sheets of paper in 2020, but that need for paper is now a thing of the past.
The digital transformation has made it easier for those subject to enforcement to fulfill their financial obligations by issuing invoices electronically; this allows them to make payments through bank counters (the bank’s website, ATMs, and phone banking), and any penalties imposed on the debtor are lifted immediately upon payment.
