IMKAN Real Estate Development also announced the progress of its local and international portfolio of residential and mixed-use projects with the commencement of construction on three projects in Abu Dhabi - Makers District, Nadra and Sheikha Fatima Park - as well as Al Burouj in Cairo. Through one of its subsidiaries, Capital Group Properties, the company confirms that it will deliver the first batch of residential communities for the Al Burouj project in the second quarter of 2019. In terms of projects, the National Marine Dredging Engineering and Contracting Company has completed the reclamation of approximately six hectares of land for public use in Makers District, the master-planned development on Al Reem Island, and as scheduled, preliminary work for the Pixel project began during the second half of this year, including the placement of 700 meters of direct linear supports and 180,000 cubic meters of excavation, with more than 900 permanent supports.
<p class=«p1IMKAN has also begun excavation work on Nadra, an upscale community in Saadiyat Island's Cultural District. The project will be home to 37 beach villas and will allow residents to design their own homes. Nadra was awarded to a consortium that includes Watts and Eastern.
At Cityscape Global 2018, IMKAN also announced Al Jurf, an integrated second home destination along the UAE coastline, which will serve as a Riviera in the Ghantoot area between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Covering 370 hectares along 3.4 kilometers of blue sea frontage, at a cost of AED 2 billion for the first phase of the project, it will become a destination for those looking to buy a second home in a destination that seamlessly blends nature, culture, architecture, past, present and future by offering a true experience away from city life.

As part of its strategy to develop projects that go beyond mixed-use real estate, IMKAN has awarded the construction contract for Sheikha Fatima Park, Abu Dhabi's first open-air green leisure destination, to Al Faraa General Contracting. Preliminary construction work has begun on the 46,000-square-meter park, which is approximately the size of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque site in Abu Dhabi. The park will be the first project in the UAE capital to bring together food and beverage outlets and retail stores in a tranquil green outdoor space.
In Egypt, construction continues on Al Burouj, an integrated community spanning more than 1,200 acres (5 million square meters) in the rapidly growing new residential area of East Cairo. The project includes the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which will be built in honor of Sheikh Zayed.
