Yanbu Commercial Port received today the ship “FREEDOM LINE” with a load of (54) thousand tons of wheat, amid an integrated system of maritime and operational services.
This is the first shipment for the General Establishment for Grain, and other shipments are expected to arrive at the port after the completion of the silos project that was established with a capacity of 120 thousand tons.
This step aims to support growth plans and increase the quantities handled, provide an attractive environment for shipping lines, enhance commercial traffic in line with the directives of the General Authority of Ports, as well as ensure the continuity of supply chains associated with achieving balanced food security.<The Yanbu Commercial Port is a strategic maritime outlet for its proximity to the local markets of the Medina and Qassim regions, and a gateway for the movement of trade from and to these economically promising regions. It is located about 460 nautical miles south of the Suez Canal and 168 nautical miles northwest of the Islamic Port of Jeddah, between the port of Daba in the north and the King Fahd Industrial and Jeddah Islamic ports in the south.The port includes 12 berths, with a length of about 4.2 km, in addition to a tourist quay with a length of 180 m, a depth of 10 m, connected to a yacht bunker and a floating berth to receive them.
The port has a capacity of more than 13.5 million tons, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 2,000 passengers, a general cargo terminal, as well as two silos for storing bulk materials with a capacity of 20,000 tons per unit.
