His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser stressed that the great support given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince to the transport and logistics sector has resulted in the launch of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, which will open the way for a major developmental development, through which the Kingdom will consolidate its position as a global logistics center, contributing to enhancing economic diversification and supporting sustainable development, through what this ambitious strategy includes major national projects and quality initiatives aimed at enhancing the growth of the sector and maximizing the economics of transport and services<This came during a press conference organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics today to review the main features of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics in the presence of Their Excellencies the Ministers and leaders of the Kingdom's transport and logistics sector, where the Ministry reviewed the general frameworks of the National Strategy and its developmental, economic and service dimensions.
Minister Al Jasser said: ”The launch of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics reflects the relentless drive towards strengthening the Kingdom's position as a major international hub in the field of sea, air and land connectivity and advanced logistics services; a matter that reflects the vision<His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics pointed out that the strategy represents the tight fabric that connects many leading national strategies such as the Hajj and Umrah sector, tourism, industry and trade to achieve the desired objectives towards achieving sustainable growth in all regions of the Kingdom, exploiting the various promising capabilities and opportunities and consolidating the link with the global economy and international markets.
He drew attention to the fact that the Corona pandemic left a very impactful lesson on the world, as this crisis tested the effectiveness of countries against interruption of supply chains, especially in the field of medicine and food flow, and exposed many different regions in the Kingdom's ”The strategy of the civil aviation sector aims for the Kingdom to be among the top 15 countries in the index of airport connectivity with the world, ensuring full connectivity that enhances the business environment and achieves the objectives of the strategies for the Hajj and Umrah sector, which targets 30 million pilgrims, and the tourism sector, which targets 100 million tourists.“
The strategy will contribute to improving the passenger experience through airports in the Kingdom and providing greater and easier connection options with stations and cities around the world by providing greater options for passengers, said the President of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA). ”Thanks to the strategy's promotion of the trend based on the adoption of the latest modern technologies to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and integration of transportation modes, we will see a reduction in energy consumption by 25%, in the future, with an increase in the share of public transport in total trips in cities to 15%, confirming the application of quality of life standards, as the ministry will adopt the highest safety standards, reduce environmental pollution and rationalize energy consumption for the transportation sector, in addition to improving the experience of the beneficiary of transportation services and improving the level of satisfaction and confidence in services.”
The Acting President General explained that the transportation network will integrally connect ports and airports to the Kingdom's airports. ”To achieve these goals, we will see a comprehensive road development process to serve the goal of integrating transportation modes as well as raising safety rates and deploying modern technical solutions to enhance the connectivity of the Kingdom's cities and villages, taking into account traffic safety and protecting the lives of all transportation users, which will be at the top of the strategy's targets,” he said, adding that during the past years, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics has achieved many successes in terms of road safety, as accidents decreased by 56%, deaths by 51%, and injuries by 30%, which contributed to achieving multiple returns for society, and the strategy will continue working on this basis, as Through its networks to transport 65 million passengers and ship 36 million tons by 2025, in addition to increasing the number of stations and lines to reach new areas, pointing out that the expansion of the infrastructure of the railway sector will represent a great investment opportunity for global investment funds and launch promising opportunities for public-private partnerships, stressing that the development of railways will increase the efficiency of transporting goods and enhance the competitiveness of Saudi goods by reducing the cost of transportation.
