Riyadh Municipality adopts advertising plan for the capital with standards that take into account its urban identity

The Riyadh Region Secretariat has approved the capital’s advertising plan, which was prepared in accordance with the strategy for developing outdoor advertising in Saudi cities issued by a Cabinet decision, which included a number of initiatives and measures aimed at developing the outdoor advertising sector in a manner consistent with each city’s identity and economy.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Secretary of the Riyadh Region, explained that the advertising plan aims to create added value for the city and enhance its aesthetic appeal through distinctive advertising media that keep pace with the latest developments in this sector, in addition to contributing to the improvement of the urban landscape, enabling digital transformation, and developing Riyadh’s resources to help achieve financial sustainability.
He noted that the advertising plan took into account many aspects, foremost among which is preserving the city’s urban identity by adopting advertising designs that align with Riyadh’s heritage and contemporary identity, as well as determining the appropriate number of billboards to ensure they are in harmony with the city’s population density and demand.
His Highness the Secretary continued: “The plan includes the implementation of new advertising media such as advertisements on building facades, advertisements on public taxis and buses, advertising wraps for buildings under construction, advertising on vacant lots, and the designation of key areas to be transformed into major landmarks of Riyadh, using an appropriate number of billboards that add an aesthetic dimension to the city and prevent the unregulated proliferation of billboards on roads and streets.”
The advertising plan included a proposal to launch 13 investment opportunities in the field of outdoor advertising for various advertising media, which are scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks, through which the Municipality aims to provide an attractive investment environment for all investors in the outdoor advertising sector to channel quality investments into the city of Riyadh.
The Riyadh Municipality will review and update the city’s advertising plan every five years to keep pace with changes in the outdoor advertising sector and the rapid development the city is experiencing.
