The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) conducted more than 6,000 inspection visits by its regulatory teams on telecommunications service providers, postal service providers, and delivery apps during the first half of 2021; to verify compliance with the document outlining the rules for protecting the rights of postal service users, as well as SMS service providers’ adherence to service provision terms, as well as the implementation of the regulations governing the protection of the rights of users of telecommunications and information technology services and the terms of service, and to verify the packages and promotional offers of telecommunications service providers, in addition to ensuring the implementation of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The Authority confirmed that its inspection teams will continue their inspection tours and, during these tours, will take action to address violations of the Authority’s regulations, seizing non-compliant devices causing radio interference at their locations of use, and taking the necessary corrective measures regarding all observed violations.
The Authority noted that inspection tours during the first half of 2021 covered telecommunications markets, stores, branches, and retail outlets of service providers across various regions of the Kingdom, as part of its efforts to strengthen mechanisms for protecting user rights in the sector.
