The National Center for Industrial and Mining Information of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the issuance of 79 new industrial licenses during the month of June, led by factories operating in the food products industry by 16%, while about 88 factories started production work during the same month, bringing the number of new industrial licenses to 530 licenses during the first half of 2021.
The Center's report confirmed that the industrial sector in the Kingdom witnessed an increase in the number of industrial licenses issued during last June by 34% compared to the previous month, as well as the volume of investment in the same proportion, as the licensed capital of new factories reached about 715 million riyals.<The report showed that 96% of the total new industrial licenses are national investment, while small factories accounted for about 90% of the new licenses, and the activity of manufacturing food products topped the new licenses issued by (16%) of the total licenses issued during last June, and the Riyadh region was the most prominent with (28) industrial licenses during the month, followed by the Makkah region with (17) licenses.
The report of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information indicated that the industrial sector in the Kingdom also witnessed an increase in the number of new factories that started production during the last month by 167%, as the number of factories that started production reached about 88 factories, with a licensed capital of about 1.241 billion riyals, compared to 33 factories in May 2021.
It showed that the activity of other manufacturing industries accounted for the largest number of factories that started production during the last month with 28 factories, while the Riyadh region topped the largest percentage of the number of new productive factories with 57 factories, while small factories that started production during the same period accounted for the largest percentage at 66%, as well as 85% of factories that started production were nationally invested.<On the number of jobs created by the industrial sector during last June, the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information revealed that about 6,505 job opportunities were created, of which 3,234 were for Saudis and 3,271 for expatriates.The report showed that the total number of existing industrial establishments in the Kingdom by the end of June reached 10,138 factories, while the total volume of investments amounted to more than 1,278 trillion riyals.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issues through the National Center for Industrial Information on a monthly basis the most important indicators of the movement of industrial activity in the Kingdom, in addition to revealing the size of the change witnessed by the sector in new industrial investments, as well as the volume of jobs attracted by the sector.
