The Saudi Ports Authority (M ports) revealed its intention to launch 12 investment opportunities for the private sector in 2022. The opportunities to be offered include the development and operation of multipurpose terminals and the provision of maritime services in 8 Saudi ports on the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf coasts.

The Saudi Ports Authority revealed that it intends to launch 12 investment opportunities to the private sector during 2022. The Authority added that they include outsourcing contracts, where these promising opportunities are represented by BOT agreements to provide various services including containers, general cargo, bulk cargo, roll-on/roll-off cargo, and livestock, in addition to maritime services contracts, and agreements to provide basic maritime services including pilotage, towing, docking, and additional maritime services such as pollution control and firefighting.

Ports emphasized that it seeks to enhance the participation of the private sector in the development of Saudi ports, believing in its role in contributing to the establishment of various development projects that contribute to achieving added value to the national economy, enhancing the investment environment and trade movement in the Kingdom, and improving the services provided to beneficiaries.

Through the Supervisory Committee for Privatization in the Transport Sector and in active strategic partnership with the private sector, Ports aims to develop this sector by optimizing capacity utilization, increasing operational efficiency, providing logistics services to achieve the objectives of the National Transport and Services Strategy in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030, and enhancing the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting the three continents of the world.
