The decision regarding NEOM was not like other decisive and resolute decisions; rather, it was a well-considered decision to make the Kingdom a world within a world, capable of meeting all its own needs. The goals were founded on the purpose, ambition, vision, and hopes of a great leader—a figure with a unique reality— and its foundations were laid by a great king, my lord the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may God preserve him, and entrusted to our exceptional prince, the guiding prince, and the wise Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, may God preserve and support him.
This conscious new beginning can only be a great goal and a clear path toward achieving the objective that His Highness personally desires: to elevate the Kingdom so that it encompasses the entire world and the world is within it, and for new civilizational progress to spring from it, making its people the foremost in the world, and for the Arab nation and the Middle East to become the center and hub for rebuilding the world and moving forward toward renewal to serve the interests of the world. We have confidence in the feasibility of this initiative, guided by His Highness’s vision, knowledge, and constructive work—to the extent that time has not merelybut rather the times have raced ahead with evident diligence, and what we have witnessed in five years is equivalent to fifty years of organized performance and tireless work.
Yes, we are witnessing and experiencing all of this historic transformation in our daily lives, and what is to come is even greater and more beautiful. The history of NEOM—its event, concept, work, goal, nature, return, and impact—will remain a new Saudi chapter, a certain wealth, and a history whose pages will record a new, great event every day, making NEOM the capital of the earth. The world will need NEOM for its presence, status, andvision, and a historic cultural leap that sets every precedent.
