“Conference and Exhibition Committee” adopts the standards and mechanisms of the 2016 trade fair plan

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, stressed the importance of developing existing exhibition and convention centers and creating new facilities with international standards, which contribute to enhancing the Kingdom's capabilities in attracting international events, which is a basic requirement to raise the quality of services and organizers in the sector and increase the attractiveness of visiting exhibition and convention centers, noting the impact of this on increasing investments and providing job opportunities for citizens in this sector.

During his chairmanship of the eighth meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the National Program for Exhibitions and Conferences at the headquarters of the Authority in Riyadh recently, His Highness noted the growing number of international companies organizing exhibitions and conferences that have entered the Saudi market during the past two years, and praised the cooperation of investors and officials in the exhibition and conferences sector with the program and its implementation of regulations and programs to develop the sector and its organization, expecting the sector to witness a qualitative leap in the coming years, especially with the great economic development in the Kingdom and the wide interest in the conference and exhibition industry from government agencies and the private sector.

His Highness expected that the sector will witness a qualitative leap in the coming years. Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz stressed the importance of developing the capabilities of citizens and opening the way for job seekers to become investors in small and medium services in the sector, pointing to the need to expand the formation of working teams of partners at the regional level in order to integrate and develop performance, upgrade the level and diversity in content to serve this promising economic sector that constitutes an important economic tributary in several countries.

Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz stressed the importance of developing the capabilities of citizens and opening the way for job seekers to become investors in small and medium services in the sector. During the meeting, a number of issues related to the tasks of the supervisory committee and the progress of the program were discussed, where the committee adopted the general objectives and policies for the development of exhibition and conference centers in the Kingdom, and the formation of a working group to follow up on their implementation.

The Supervisory Committee also adopted the criteria and mechanisms of the 2016 trade fair plan and the time frame for its adoption before the end of Dhu al-Hijjah, and adopted the general framework of the program of the third Saudi Forum for Conferences and Exhibitions to be held on 26 Muharram 1437 AH in Dammam.

The meeting reviewed developments related to the plan to develop systems and regulations in the exhibitions and conferences sector, the establishment of the Saudi Association for Exhibitions and Conferences, and the results of applying the financial compensation for the service of changing the dates of trade fairs, and reviewed the achievements of the national program during the first quarter of 2015 and the report of the achievements of the decisions of the previous meeting of the committee, which appreciated the efforts made to make the program a unified and facilitated point of contact for all customers in the exhibitions and conferences sector.
