Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Public Investment Fund, the Public Investment Fund has established the new national airline, Riyadh Air, to contribute to the development of the air transport sector and strengthen the Kingdom’s strategic position as a hub connecting three of the world’s most important continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe, and to enhance the competitiveness of national companies in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The company, which is headquartered in the capital city of Riyadh to manage its operational activities, and as a hub for its flights, by owning a fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft. Through this fleet, it aims to implement globally recognized best practices in sustainability and safety in the aviation sector, in addition to providing the latest digital technologies to lead the way in this field.
“Riyadh Air” will be led by a team of elite local and international experts, and its board of directors will be chaired by Yasser Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund, while Tony Douglas has been appointed CEO of the company, bringing over 40 years of experience in the transportation, aviation, and logistics sectors.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, the Fund’s financial capabilities and investment expertise will enable the company to expand its operations, supporting its future plans to become a leading national and global airline.
To enrich the passenger experience, Riyadh Air aims to launch flights to more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030 and will offer exceptional levels of integrated services, blended with authentic Saudi hospitality.
