<The Ministry of Investment recently announced updated statistics on <a style="color: #800000;" href="https://amlak.net. direct foreign investment in the Kingdom after about 18 months of joint work with the General Authority for Statistics and the Saudi Central Bank, and after ensuring that it is in line with global best practices, namely the IMF's Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPMI).

Analysis of more than 10,000 companies

As part of the data update process, under the new methodology, the working team made efforts to analyze the data of more than 10,000 foreign companies, from more than 70,000 financial statements, covering the years from 2015 to 2022, and this effort contributed to reaching the updated results using the new methodology as follows:

The balance of foreign direct investment in 2015 amounted to 413 billion riyals, 2016 to 508 billion riyals, 2017 to 514 billion riyals, 2018 to 562 billion riyals, 2019 to 576 billion riyals, 2020 to 585 billion riyals, 2021 to 670 billion riyals, and 2022 to 775 billion riyals.

While FDI inflows in 2015 amounted to 64 billion riyals, 2016 to 111 billion riyals, 2017 to 27 billion riyals, 2018 to 71 billion riyals, 2019 to 32 billion riyals, 2020 to 30 billion riyals, 2021 to 100 billion riyals, and 2022 to 122 billion riyals.

The Kingdom's economy is 16th in the G20

Under the new methodology, the FDI stock reached 775 billion riyals ($207 billion) in 2022, ranking the Kingdom 16th among the G20 economies.

. On the occasion of the release of the updated data, H.E. Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Investment, stated that the Kingdom is committed to creating the best investment environment in the world in all aspects, including working on a transparent and world-class methodology for compiling and calculating FDI statistics.
