Arab Center for Engineering Studies wins geotechnical work for Jeddah Metro

Arab Center for Engineering StudiesACES Jeddah Branch has won the geotechnical engineering investigation for the preliminary design phase of the Jeddah Metro. The Jeddah Metro is one of the mega projects that includes several public transportation networks, as the project includes: A rail network, a bus network, a maritime transportation line, a Corniche tram, a suspension bridge and a number of public transportation stations in Jeddah and Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah Metro is a large-scale project that includes several public transportation networks. <The management consulting contract for the project was awarded to Aecom, while the engineering design contract for the initial phase of the project was awarded to Systra. Fosters & Partners is the architectural consultant for the project. The approved budget for the project is estimated at $12 billion, to be implemented over seven years, but this budget is expected to increase due to adjustments in the cost plan.

Jeddah Metro CompanyJMC is overseeing the entire project as the project owner and consultantACES“ client client is Systra, Khatib and Alami. <ACES" scope of work is to drill a total of 150 boreholes to depths ranging from 10 meters to 45 meters below ground surface, install high pressure gauges and conduct field and laboratory tests. To date, seven rigs have been mobilized and are working alongside more than 60 qualified personnel who have been deployed to the project sites.

The center's work also includes the construction of the multi-modal starting station, light rail transit "LRT" lineC,Band D with 37 kilometers and 39 stations, and bus rapid transit "BRT” with lines extending up to 27 kilometers.

An official at the Arab Center for Engineering Studies pointed out that the center has a wide portfolio of completed railway projects, in addition to that the center has completed other huge projects in the GCC region, such as: Etihad Railways (UAE), Doha Metro (Qatar), Riyadh Metro, Makkah Metro, Saudi Land Bridge Project (Saudi Arabia).

The Arab Center for Engineering Studies “Jeddah Branch“ has also undertaken geotechnical investigation and quality control work for several other large-scale projects in the western region of Saudi Arabia, such as: Jeddah Groundwater Reduction Project, Water and Sewerage Networks, Jeddah Breman Strategic Reservoir, King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The Arab Center for Engineering Studies “Jeddah Branch“ has also undertaken geotechnical investigation and quality control works for several other large-scale projects in the western region of Saudi Arabia.
