Implementation of Riyadh's ring and main road axis development program projects begins

Four projects awarded at a cost of more than 13 billion riyals to develop circular and main road axes and connect the parts of Riyadh

<The Board of Directors of Royal Commission for Riyadh has announced the commencement of the implementation of the program for the development of circular and main road axes in the city of Riyadh and the award of four projects covering the “first group” of the program at a cost of more than 13 billion riyals, with the award of contracts for the projects of the subsequent stages of the program to be announced in the coming period, God willing. This program comes with the aim of developing circular and main road axes, strengthening the city's transportation system, activating connectivity between its parts, preparing it to be a major center in providing sustainable transportation and logistics services in the Middle East region, and elevating the capital to the leading position it deserves as one of the world's major metropolises, in line with the objectives of the “Vision 2030” programs.

This program includes the projects of “the first group of the program” at a cost of 13 billion riyals. <The "Group I" projects of this program include the following methods:
The Second Southern Ring Road project, 56 kilometers long, extending from the new Al-Kharj Road in the east to Jeddah Road in the west, and includes four lanes for the main road in each direction, and three lanes for the service road in each direction, and the road includes the implementation of 10 major intersections and the construction of 32 bridges.

A four-kilometer-long project to build two bridges parallel to the suspension bridge (Wadi Laban Bridge) and develop the intersection of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road, which includes the construction of two bridges parallel to the existing (suspension) bridge and the construction of four bridges at the confluence of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road.
Development of the western part of the Thumama Road axis, with a length of six kilometers, extending from King Khalid Road in the west to King Fahd Road in the east.
Taif Road Extension Project, 16 kilometers in length, extending from the western end of Taif Road in the Laban neighborhood east to the Qiddiya project.

Royal Commission for Riyadh is keen to maintain the greatest flow of traffic on the roads that will witness the implementation of these projects, and has developed a plan to manage traffic diversions in these roads, in partnership with the concerned agencies in the city

It is noteworthy that the "Riyadh Main Ring Road Axis Development Program", which was announced by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City in 1441 AH, and the implementation of its first set of projects, includes the implementation and development of more than 500 km of the city's road network by adding new roads, upgrading existing main axes and connecting them to each other.
