The Riyadh Municipality has signed five contracts to rehabilitate and improve road quality; covering the northern, southern, central, eastern, and western areas of Riyadh, representing four times the current number of contracts; this is to achieve the goals of improving infrastructure quality, raising Riyadh’s road quality index to global standards, and enhancing safe mobility for its residents and visitors.

The contracts include rehabilitation and paving works, through the improvement of road network, with work scheduled to continue through 2028 and carried out in coordination with a number of relevant authorities.

The Secretariat stated that it is following a mechanism to divide the city into five zones—north, south, east, west, and central—to determine work priorities based on precise criteria derived from a comprehensive survey of the capital’s roads and streets using the latest technologies, and dividing them into work zones that take into account the quality of existing roads, safety standards, maintenance work, and coordination with the work of other entities in the city.

It noted Riyadh Municipality noted that the Riyadh Region Infrastructure Projects Center, established by a Cabinet decision on July 19, 2023; contributes, among its roles, to ensuring the absence of duplication of work and the sustainability of road quality improvement efforts during that period by preparing a comprehensive detailed plan for infrastructure projects in the Riyadh region, including programs allocated to each project, specific timelines, and planned implementation phases.
