His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Haqeel, today opened the 12th session of the Gulf Municipal Work Conference, which is hosted by the Kingdom and organized by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during October 6-8, in the presence of many government officials and specialists concerned with the affairs of municipal work in the GCC countries.
His Excellency Al Haqeel delivered a speech during the opening of the conference. H.E. Al-Hogail delivered a speech during the opening of the conference, during which he emphasized that the holding of the Gulf Municipal Work Conference embodies the common interest of the GCC countries in municipal work and its various sectors, as one of the main pillars of achieving sustainable development in the GCC countries, noting that the current session highlights the latest developments and the most prominent challenges related to the development and sustainability of municipal work, and discusses the aspirations that we hope to achieve.
H.E. Al-Hogail explained that the conference is held in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Al-Huqail explained that the municipal sector in the GCC countries faces many challenges, including the increasing demand for high-quality and sustainable municipal services, in addition to providing various sources of financing for municipal projects, pointing to the efforts of the GCC countries to promote the development and sustainability of municipal work, through the establishment of sustainable and environmentally friendly smart cities that contribute to improving the quality of life for residents and support the sustainability of the municipal economy.
He pointed out that the current session highlights the latest developments and the most prominent challenges related to the development and sustainability of municipal work, and discusses the aspired ambitions that we seek to achieve. His Excellency pointed out that the conference reviews the most prominent successful experiences in the field of municipal sustainability and provides innovative solutions to overcome the challenges facing the municipal sector, where the conference discusses modern trends in urban planning and design and its impact on improving the quality of life, employing smart technology for the sustainability of municipal work, discussing climate change and its impact on the sustainability of municipal work and ways to address it, building partnerships that contribute to developing innovative solutions for municipal work, and enhancing the role of municipal cadres in achieving sustainability.
He stressed the continued joint work in the GCC countries to develop innovative solutions for municipal work and enhance the role of municipal staff in achieving sustainability.
He added. He emphasized the continuation of joint work to come up with meaningful recommendations that contribute to developing new strategies to face local and regional challenges in the sustainability of municipal work, raising the quality of life through the adoption of sustainable solutions and technologies, enhancing investment in human cadres by providing educational and training opportunities, and strengthening the partnership between GCC countries by exchanging experiences and knowledge to develop municipal work and achieve integration between the responsible authorities.
Followed by the ceremony. Following the ceremony, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing inaugurated the GCC Municipal Work Exhibition, which features the latest innovations, solutions, tools and successful practices that support the achievement of sustainability in municipal work, with the participation of more than 29 exhibitors from government agencies and private companies involved in municipal work from all GCC countries.
The conference will take place over the course of the conference. During the three-day conference, more than 15 panel discussions and workshops will be held, with the participation of a group of officials, experts and academics specialized in municipal work from the GCC countries. The sessions will discuss 6 strategic themes related to the current challenges of Gulf municipal work and the most prominent innovative solutions to address them, in addition to modern trends and successful practices in the field of sustainability of municipal work.
The conference will be held over the course of three days.
