“Al Diriyah receives two Sustainable Certificates from Ajwad at Cityscape Global

The two certifications were awarded to the Northern Diriyah Project (Diamond Level) and the Ritz-Carlton Residences Project (Gold Level).

Al-Dir’iya Company has received the “Mustaadam” sustainability certification as part of the “Ajwad” initiative by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, aligning its efforts with the Quality of Life Program, which is a fundamental part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Al-Dir’iya” received the two certificates in recognition of its efforts on the “Northern Al-Dir’iya” development project and the “Ritz-Carlton Residences” project, The announcement was made during the first day of Cityscape Global 2024, themed “The Future of Living,” held in Riyadh from November 11 to 14.

According to Al-Dir’iya, the “Mustaqbal” certification, which stems from the “Ajwad” initiative, to encourage real estate developers to enhance quality of life and sustainability in residential communities and projects. It is awarded to residential communities based on ratings and criteria that measure their sustainability, such as increasing the per-capita share of green spaces, providing safe, dedicated paths for pedestrians and cyclists, and reducing water waste by reusing it to irrigate gardens and green spaces.

Northern Diriyah Project

The “Ajood” initiative saw 74 projects registered, five of which were in Diriyah, and two of the Diriyah projects successfully obtained “Mustaqbal” certification, with the “Northern Diriyah” project received the “Mustaqbal for Master Plan – Diamond Level” certification—the highest level in the Mustaqbal certification system—after scoring 86 points, exceeding the required minimum.

The “Ritz-Carlton Residences” project also received the “Mustaqbal for Assets – Gold Level” certification, and the remaining three projects are scheduled to receive certification next year, in 2025. This achievement reflects Diriyah’s commitment to sustainability standards and its dedication to improving the community’s quality of life.

Achievements in North Diriyah

Sustainability achievements in the North Diriyah area include meeting 100% of irrigation needs through the use of treated graywater, providing 46% of shaded pedestrian walkways, and allocating 25% of space for parks and open spaces.

This recognition follows a series of recent sustainability awards received by Al-Dir’iya, which earned LEED Platinum certification in 2023 for the first phase of the Diriyah Master Plan, becoming the first project in the Middle East to achieve the highest certification level at the master plan level. In addition, the Wadi Safar Master Plan received the region’s first SITES Gold certification. Furthermore, the Al-Bajiri Parking Garage and the Samhan Parking Garage received ”Parksmart“ Gold certifications in 2022 and 2023, respectively, for best sustainability practices.
