Amid global market volatility, steel prices in Saudi Arabia a slight decline during March 2025, while prices for some other construction materials, such as wood and electrical cables, rose, according to a bulletin by General Authority for Statistics on average prices of goods and services.
The price of rebar (6 mm) fell to approximately 3,849.28 riyals per ton, a monthly decline of 0.71%, while the price of rebar (8 mm) reached approximately 2,776.92 riyals per ton, down by 0.61%. Prices for other sizes also fell by varying degrees, with the price of 10 mm rebar reaching approximately 2,822.37 riyals per ton, a slight decrease of 0.21%, while the price of 12 mm rebar stabilized at 2,790.98 riyals per ton, a monthly decline of 0.41%.
As for larger sizes such as 14 mm, 16 mm, and 18 mm, they all recorded a similar monthly decline of 0.4%, with prices ranging from approximately 2,792 to 2,795 riyals per ton.
Rise in prices of electrical cables and wires
In contrast, prices for electrical wires andcables saw a notable increase in March. The price of an electrical wire (6 mm) rose to 2.76 riyals per meter, an increase of 0.4%, while electrical cables (10 mm) reached 21.63 riyals per meter, with a similar monthly increase.
The increases continued gradually with larger sizes, as cables (25 mm) reached approximately 47.79 riyals, **(35 mm)** around 62.52 riyals, and **(50 mm)** nearly 87.63 riyals, while the price of electrical cable (95 mm) reached 174.92 riyals per meter, up by 0.81%.
The only exception was the electrical cable (300 mm), which fell by 1.71%, recording 527.59 riyals per meter.
Wood prices show mixed increases... African teak jumps by 5.3%
In terms of timber prices, the price of Chilean timber rose to 1,583.25 riyals per cubic meter, an increase of 0.41%, while the price of Romanian wood rose slightly by 0.1% to 1,482.30 riyals.
However, the most significant increase was in African teak, which jumped by 5.31% to reach 6,716.05 riyals per cubic meter, The price of Indonesian Ablakash wood also rose to 3,131.76 riyals, a slight increase of 0.11%.
Meanwhile, the price of aluminum (Saudi 5.8 m coil) rose to 89 riyals, an increase of 11% on a monthly basis.
