<The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released today the results of the Industrial Production Index (IPI) for April 2025, which showed that the IPI index increased by 3.1% compared to the similar month of the previous year (April 2024).
According to the bulletin, the sub-index index for mining and quarrying activity increased by 0.2% year-on-year, and the sub-index index for manufacturing activity increased by 7.4%.
The sub-index for electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply activity decreased by 0.2%, while the sub-index for water supply, sanitation, waste management and treatment activities increased by 8.8% compared to April of the previous year. The results of the bulletin according to the main economic activities revealed that the index for oil activities in April 2025 increased by 4.3% compared to the same month of the previous year, and the index for non-oil activities increased by 0.1%.
It is noteworthy that the General Authority for Statistics issues the Industrial Production Index on a monthly basis, to measure the relative changes in the quantities of industrial production, based on the data of the industrial production survey, which is carried out on a selected sample of enterprises operating in the targeted industrial sectors, including: Mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, water supply and sanitation, and waste management and treatment.
