“Riyadh Development Authority: 24% of the train project has been completed. The ”Gazelle“ machine starts its work in Al Malaz

The High Commission for the Development of Riyadh revealed that the Riyadh Metro project has made significant progress in the construction of its infrastructure, with work having exceeded 24% to date, in accordance with the established schedule, This announcement came during a ceremony held by the Authority to mark the arrival of the “Jazla” tunnel boring machine at one of the Riyadh Metro stations on the Orange Line of the King Abdulaziz Public Transportation Project in Riyadh, attended by the Italian Prime Minister, who was visiting the Kingdom.

On this occasion, Engineer Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, a member of the Authority and head of its Projects and Planning Center, said that this machine is the fifth of seven machines to be used in the project, and that two new machines will be commissioned soon, God willing, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Riyadh, who is closely monitoring every detail of the project and is committed to its completion.

Engineer Al-Sultan praised the Saudi staff working on the project, saying “Today you see the engineers and workers on the project celebrating the machine’s arrival at this station, and this is a source of pride in this project, which employs more than 800 outstanding Saudi engineers.”

During the ceremony, attendees watched the machine’s head, “Jazla,” break through the station wall, located 25 meters underground, after the machine—by the grace of God—had completed- completed the excavation of the Orange Line tunnel in the 1.2-kilometer section stretching from south of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in the Al-Malaz neighborhood to the site of the first station next to the railway station in the Al-Sina’iya neighborhood, since the machine began operations in the middle of last Ramadan.
