“Al-Ahsa concludes its participation in the UNESCO Creative Cities Conference

Creative Al-Ahsa concluded its participation in the 17th annual conference of the UNESCO's UCCN, which was hosted by the city of Angien-les-Bains, north of the French capital Paris, from June 23 to 24, with the participation of more than 350 cities from around the world.

Al-Mulla emphasized that the participation of Al-Ahsa's delegation in the UNESCO conference was notable for its success in integrating creativity into sustainable development strategies. Al Mulla stressed that Al Ahsa's participation this year was qualitative in terms of attendance, content and outputs, during which he highlighted quality projects that strengthened Al Ahsa's position as a global creative platform, including supporting and empowering artisans, establishing permanent markets for handicrafts, and providing professional training programs to enhance the sustainability of this vital sector.

He pointed out that the conference provided ample opportunities for communication and building new cooperative relationships, where an initial understanding was reached with the Korean city of Jinju to discuss mechanisms for participation in the Jinju International Biennale, in addition to discussing proposals to launch joint cultural events between the two cities soon.

Al-Ahsa's Secretary participated in the conference. The Secretary of Al-Ahsa participated with the mayors of creative cities in a special session that discussed the role of creative cities in preserving heritage and promoting local identity, noting in his intervention that Al-Ahsa represents a living model of a city that was able to preserve its ancient heritage while integrating it into a modern development vision based on innovation and creativity.

Al-Ahsa's presentations attracted the attention of participants and organizers, and its experience was considered one of the inspiring experiences in empowering local communities through crafts and arts, reflecting the progress Al-Ahsa has made since it joined the network in 2015.
