Ministry of Commerce: 474,000 commercial registrations for youth-owned enterprises

Youth organization records account for 38% of total records, with notable growth in apps, AI, gaming, and film production.

The Ministry of Commerce revealed that the total existing business registrations for businesses owned by young people “of both genders” exceeded 474,000 commercial registrations, accounting for 38% of the total existing commercial registrations in the Kingdom as of the end of the second quarter of 2025.

Coinciding with International Youth Skills Day, the Ministry noted that several promising sectors have seen remarkable growth led by young people “in the age group: 18–40 years old,” with business registrations for app development grew by 28% over the course of a year, reaching (18,780) business registrations by the end of the second quarter of 2025, while registrations in the artificial intelligence sector grew by 34% over the course of the year, reaching (14,409) business registrations, and registrations in the video game development sector grew by 32% over the course of the year, reaching (8,260) commercial registrations, and business registrations for film, video, and television program production grew by 20%, bringing the total number of active registrations for this sector to (5,752) by the end of the second quarter of 2025.
