Housing program: Homeownership rate rises to 65.4% and exceeds 2025 target

More than 122,000 families have benefited from housing subsidies and 21,000 have owned homes through developmental housing pathways.

The Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 - issued its annual report for 2024 under the title “From Decision to Stability”, reviewing the most prominent performance indicators and strategic achievements that contributed to supporting the macro economy and increasing non-oil GDP, in addition to its achievements linked to the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, in light of the attention and care enjoyed by the program from the wise leadership, based on its keenness to promote housing stability for citizens.

The report showed that the ownership rate of Saudi families reached (65.4%) by the end of 2024, exceeding the 2025 target of (65%), reflecting the effectiveness of the housing and financing initiatives and facilities provided by the program in integration with partners. It also revealed that more than (122) thousand families benefited from housing support during the year, and more than (21) thousand eligible families were able to own their homes through developmental housing tracks.

The report showed that 2024 witnessed the signing of more than (13) thousand contracts for the land product of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, about (16) thousand contracts for self-construction, more than (49) thousand contracts for ready-made units, and more than (27) thousand contracts for off-plan sales.

The report emphasized that the housing strategy of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in the year 2024 witnessed the signing of more than (13) thousand contracts for the land product. The report stressed that the strategy of the housing program took into account the accelerated pace of ownership despite the global economic changes, and succeeded in launching initiatives and development projects that provided diverse housing opportunities, attracted private sector partners, and contributed to providing job and investment opportunities.

The report emphasized that the housing program strategy took into account the accelerated pace of ownership despite the global economic changes. The Housing Program aims to enable Saudi families to own a suitable home easily, through a package of housing and financing products, and provide options suitable for different groups in all regions of the Kingdom, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to raise the ownership rate to (70%).
