“Statistics”: 4.6% growth in non-oil activities in the second quarter of 2025

Real GDP in the second quarter of 2025 grew by 3.9% compared to the same quarter of 2024, according to the results of the GDP and National Accounts Bulletin for the second quarter of 2025 issued by the General Authority for Statistics.

Non-oil activities grew by 4.6%, followed by oil activities by 3.8%, while governmental activities grew by 4.6%. Non-oil activities increased by 4.6%, followed by oil activities at 3.8%, while government activities grew by 0.6%. Non-oil activities are the main contributor to growth by 2.6 percentage points, and oil activities and net product taxes contributed positively by 0.9 and 0.3 percentage points, respectively.

The results showed that all major economic activities achieved year-on-year growth. Compared to Q1 2025, seasonally adjusted real GDP grew by 1.7% with oil activities being the largest contributor to growth by 1.3 percentage points, followed by non-oil activities with a contribution of 0.4 percentage points.

In terms of activities, oil activities and net product taxes contributed positively by 0.9 and 0.3 percentage points, respectively. At the level of economic activities, electricity, gas and water activities recorded the highest annual growth rates at 10.3%, followed by financial, insurance and business services at 7.0%, and wholesale and retail trade, restaurants and hotels at 6.6%.
