The index of industrial production quantities in Saudi Arabia recorded an increase of 7.1% during August 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, and increased on a monthly basis by 1.4%, the General Authority for Statistics announced on Thursday.
The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) announced on Thursday.
Industrial production growth in Saudi Arabia
The Authority explained that this growth was supported by the strong performance of a number of industrial activities, most notably: Mining and quarrying, manufacturing, as well as electricity and gas supply, water, sewage and waste treatment activities.
The mining and quarrying sub-index recorded a remarkable growth of 8.1% year-on-year, driven by a rise in the Kingdom's oil production during August to 9.72 million barrels per day, compared to 8.99 million barrels per day in August 2024. The same index also rose by 2.1% on a monthly basis.
This positive performance reflects the continued momentum of the industrial sector in the Kingdom, in light of the directives to support economic diversification and enhance the contribution of the productive sectors to GDP.
