The total financial facilities provided by the banking and finance sectors to small, medium and micro enterprises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recorded a remarkable rise to reach a historical high of 420.7 billion riyals by the end of the second quarter of 2025, achieving an annual growth of 37%, an increase of more than 113.3 billion riyals compared to the same period in 2024, when the total facilities amounted to 307.4 billion riyals.
Monthly Statistical Bulletin
In the monthly statistical bulletin for August 2025 issued by the Saudi Central Bank “SAMA”, a quarterly growth of 10% was recorded, where the value of the increase amounted to more than 37.5 billion riyals, compared to the end of the first quarter of this year, when the total facilities amounted to 383.2 billion riyals.
The data also showed that facilities provided by the banking sector were the largest, amounting to 402.1 billion riyals, representing about 96% of the total facilities, while facilities provided by finance companies amounted to 18.6 billion riyals.
In terms of distribution of facilities, the increase amounted to more than 37.5 billion riyals, compared to the end of the first quarter of this year, which amounted to 383.2 billion riyals. In terms of the distribution of facilities among enterprises, medium enterprises were in the lead with a share of 49% of the total facilities provided by the two sectors, equivalent to 206.4 billion riyals, followed by small enterprises with a share of 37%, equivalent to 154.2 billion riyals, then micro enterprises, which received 14% of the total, equivalent to 60.1 billion riyals.
Classification of enterprises
According to the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, medium enterprises are classified as those with revenues ranging from 40 to 200 million riyals or employing 50 to 249 employees, while small enterprises are defined as those with revenues ranging from 3 to 40 million riyals or employing 6 to 49 employees, and micro enterprises are those with revenues not exceeding 3 million riyals or employing one to five employees.Micro enterprises are defined as those with revenues not exceeding 3 million riyals or employing one to five employees.
