The annual Dubai Investment Forum kicks off today, Monday, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of more than 14 Saudi government and private-sector entities, as well as a number of countries and private-sector companies from around the world. The Kingdom is participating in the forum for the first time since its inception and has been selected as the “Country of Honor” for the 2015 edition.
A press release from the organizing committee stated that the General Authority for Investment in the Kingdom has secured prominent Saudi participation in the forum and its accompanying exhibition, which will take place from March 30 to April 1, featuring government agencies and private-sector companies representing a number of promising investment sectors. Invitations were extended to several Saudi entities and companies to showcase the most prominent investment opportunities available across all regions of the Kingdom, particularly in the targeted sectors, in line with the forum’s theme “Sustainable Development through Foreign Direct Investment in Innovation and Technology Transfer.“
Engineer Mohammed Al-Shehi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs in the United Arab Emirates, stated that the Kingdom’s participation in the International Investment Forum reflects the strong alignment between the economic policies of the UAE and Saudi Arabia in promoting foreign direct investment under regulatory frameworks that allow for the transfer and dissemination of technology across various economic sectors in both countries. This cooperation will also serve as a model for other countries participating in the 2015 session.
The forum attracts representatives from 140 countries around the world, and this year’s focus supports economic diversification, reliance on foreign direct investment, and the activation of the role of small and medium-sized enterprises.
It is worth noting that the Saudi entities participating in the forum include the Ministry of Health, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Economic Cities Authority, the Export Development Authority, the Industrial Development Fund, the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Saudi Aramco, Sadara, the Industrial Cities and Industrial Clusters Authority, and theGeneral Authority for Ports, Jazan Economic City, and the General Investment Authority.
