As of the end of the second quarter of the current year, 1435 AH, there were (6,670) operating factories with total financing exceeding 1 trillion riyals, while the number of workers in these factories reached 891.5 thousand.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry clarified in a recent statistical report published on its website that the Riyadh region topped the list of operating factories in the Kingdom with a total of 2,878 factories, with funding totaling 114.4 billion riyals, followed by the Eastern Province with 1,572 operating factories with total funding of 629.8 billion riyals, and then the Makkah region with approximately 1,254 operating factories and total funding of 131.9 billion riyals.
The remaining factories were distributed across the rest of the Kingdom’s regions, with Al-Baha having the smallest share in terms of the number of factories, at approximately 15 operating factories with total financing of 59 million riyals.
The statistics indicated that factories producing other non-metallic mineral products led the number of operating factories by industrial activity at the end of the second quarter of the current Hijri year 1435, with a total of 1,338 factories,followed by factories producing fabricated metal products (excluding machinery and equipment), with approximately 916 factories, and then factories producing rubber and plastic products, with approximately 829 operating factories,It noted that the remaining factories were distributed across other production sectors, with factories engaged in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment having the lowest number in the Kingdom, at approximately 4 operating factories.
