«Ma'aden begins commercial operation of aluminum smelter

The Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) announced yesterday that Ma'aden Aluminum’s aluminum smelter has begun commercial operations.

In a statement on “Tadawul,” the company said that the financial impact of the start of commercial production at the aluminum smelter will be reflected in the company’s financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2014.

Ma’aden Aluminum is a joint venture between the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) and Alcoa, with Ma’aden holding a 74.9% stake and Alcoa holding a 25.1% stake. and the project has an annual production capacity of 740,000 metric tons of aluminum.
