After the Council of Ministers approved the general objectives of the Tenth Development Plan: Minister of Economy and Planning emphasizes the effectiveness of the Kingdom's development approach

The Council of Ministers, in its session held yesterday under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, approved the general objectives of the Tenth Development Plan 1436/1437H-1440/1441H

Minister of Economy and Planning Dr. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Jasser In this regard, Minister of Economy and Planning Dr. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Jasser stressed the rationality of the development approach adopted by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, which aims to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development that improves living standards and quality of life for citizens, based on a diversified economic structure, an effective role for the private sector, and growing efficiency in the use of economic resources, raising productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

Minister of Economy and Planning Dr. Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Jasser <He explained that the Kingdom has achieved, through successive development plans, remarkable achievements, and today it pays special attention to accelerating the pace of transformation towards a knowledge economy and knowledge society in which knowledge is the main determinant of productivity and economic growth. He stressed that this is a strategic choice towards sustainable development based on technology and innovation, noting that this orientation of the Kingdom is crowned by the enormous amount of spending in recent years on education and training, based on the belief that the outputs of the educational and training process are the most important foundations and pillars of the success of the knowledge-based economy.

He emphasized that the general objectives of the plan are to accelerate the transformation towards the knowledge economy and the knowledge society. The Minister of Economy and Planning explained that the plan's general objectives, policies and implementation mechanisms are based on the principles and constants adopted by the Kingdom to achieve its economic and social goals, foremost of which is preserving the teachings of Islamic Sharia and its tolerant values, consolidating the Kingdom's Arab and Islamic identity, strengthening national unity and comprehensive national security.

He added that the plan's general objectives, policies and implementation mechanisms are based on the Kingdom's development orientations. <He added that the three dimensions of development (social, economic and organizational) have been taken into account in the preparation of the general objectives, policies and their executive mechanisms to ensure balanced development in the Kingdom, noting that the social dimension is represented by optimal investment in population resources, raising the standard of living, improving the quality of life for all segments of society by raising the efficiency and quality of basic services (education, health, municipal services, etc.) and developing human resources and raising their productivity. The social dimension is the development of human resources, raising their productivity, expanding their options in acquiring knowledge, skills and expertise, developing the entrepreneurial, cognitive and physical abilities of young people and raising their competencies, empowering women and increasing their contribution in various fields of development, strengthening social safety nets and family and child care, providing appropriate and sufficient job opportunities for national labor, facilitating citizens“ access to adequate housing according to various programs and options that meet demand, and providing comprehensive and integrated high-quality health care for the entire population and facilitating access to it.

As for the economic dimension, Dr. Al-Jasser stated that it focuses on developing the structure of the national economy, improving its productivity, upgrading the skills and productive capabilities of national labor, expanding the use of modern technologies and advanced production methods to increase the technical content of national products and improve their competitiveness locally and internationally.”

<At the end of his statement, Al-Jasser stressed again that the biggest challenge for everyone is to represent the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and His Royal Highness the Deputy Crown Prince, may God protect them in ensuring the proper and efficient implementation of development programs and projects that aim to improve the standard of living of the citizen and achieve his well-being. He pointed out that the mega projects that are announced successively and cover all parts of the country represent landmarks on the path of sustainable and balanced development and economic diversification, which will lead - God willing - to achieve the desired level of a more advanced and prosperous life for the citizen, who is the center of development and its goal. He also praised the constructive role of the Supreme Economic Council and the Shura Council in formulating many goals and enriching the policies aimed at achieving those goals.
