More than 282 billion riyals, the volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and the United States

The volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America last year 2013 amounted to 282,285 million riyals compared to 287,109 million riyals, a slight decrease from 2012, which witnessed the largest record trade rate between the two friendly countries.
The Department of Statistics and Information explained in a recent report on the occasion of the visit of US President Barack Obama to the Kingdom that the United States of America has maintained the first rank in terms of the volume of trade exchange with the Kingdom during the period from 2003, which amounted to 88535 million riyals until last year 2013.
Saudi commodity exports to the United States of America achieved an upward trajectory and rose from 65385 million riyals in 2003 to reach 208339 million riyals in 2012, while it declined slightly in 2013 to reach 199052 million riyals.
The percentage of Saudi commodity exports to the United States ranged from 12 to 19% of the Kingdom's total exports during the period 2003-2013, while the ranking of the United States in terms of the value of Saudi commodity exports ranged from first to second, while America remained in first place in the last three years.
Saudi commodity exports to the United States varied in several areas, including crude oils and their products, which represent the highest percentage of exports, organic chemical products, hydrocarbons and ethylene glycol, urea fertilizers, and stainless steel pipes and tubes.
In terms of US imports to the Kingdom, it witnessed a significant increase from 23150 million riyals in 2003 to 83233 million riyals in 2013, to constitute US imports to the Kingdom between 13 to 15% during the period from 2003 to 2013, while the United States ranked first in terms of the value of imports during that period, except in 2011, when it ranked second after China.

Automobiles of all kinds, aircraft engines and spare parts, and floating or submersible drilling rigs are among the most prominent American imports to the Saudi market.
Data from the Department of Statistics and Information revealed that the Kingdom achieved a surplus in the trade balance with the United States of America throughout the period, ranging from 34533 million riyals in 2009, while in 2008 it reached 136414 million riyals, the highest surplus in the trade balance between the two friendly countries, while it decreased in 2013 to 115819 million riyals.

Data from the Department of Statistics and Information revealed that the Kingdom achieved a surplus in the trade balance with the United States of America.
