The 16th International Conference on Industrial Security in Riyadh Concludes

• The exhibition featured 24 scientific lectures and workshops with the participation of national and international experts

The 16th International Conference and Exhibition on Industrial Security concluded its proceedings, which was organized by the Ministry of Interior at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center from 21 to 23 Muharram 1435 AH, corresponding to November 24–26, 2013, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Commission for Industrial Security, with the participation of IFSEC & OSH Arabia 2013.

During the closing session, Engineer Muhammad Al-Shammari, Regional Vice President for the Middle East at the International Industrial Security Association, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Minister of Interior for his patronage of the conference and the accompanying exhibition, as well as to the General Secretariat of thefor its tremendous efforts in organizing the conference and exhibition and executing them so successfully. He explained that the International Industrial Security Association is the largest non-profit professional organization dedicated to industrial security in the world, with over 38,000 members the global level, and that the Middle East region is one of the association’s largest regions, divided into three sections: one dedicated to the Gulf states, one focused on Arab countries, and a third covering certain other Middle Eastern countries. Al-Shammari said: “We at the International Association for Industrial Security still feel that the security personnel in our country and the members of our beloved community deserve more and more from us, as they have always been accustomed to our dedication and generosity. We wish to repay them a small portion of their dedication and generosity through theefforts to expand the Association’s educational and awareness-raising activities to serve them. He expressed his hope for the support and backing of all our experts, academics, and national security professionals for the Association’s volunteer activities, through their participation with us in organizing such scientific andawareness-raising events that serve the mission of security and benefit society. He urged all security and industrial departments and companies to ensure their participation and engagement with the Association’s activities to enhance the knowledge and cultural understanding of employees, officials, and stakeholders, thereby keeping pace with the rapid evolution of security concepts.
Global Participation
The annual exhibition featured an elite group of specialists, experts, and consultants, as well as a large turnout from government agencies, public institutions, industrial and commercial companies, universities, training institutes, hospitals, banks, engineering firms, construction contractors, and industrial city planners. The exhibition aims to showcase the latest products and services offered by exhibiting companies to meet the needs of facilities and relevant entities, exchange ideas in the fields of security, protection, firefighting, and safety in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region, monitor regional developments and their impact on technological and regulatory advancements, expand the network of contacts between manufacturers and organizations, and enrich knowledge in the fields of industrial security and gain insights through this international exhibition.
Events and Sessions
The conference, held in conjunction with the exhibition, featured 24 scientific lectures and workshops organized around three main themes: security, firefighting, and occupational safety, These presentations featured a select group of Saudi and international experts, academics, and consultants. The General Secretariat of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security formed a committee of specialists in the fields of protection, security, fire prevention, and occupational safety, comprising Authority staff and representatives from majorSaudi companies such as Saudi Aramco and SABIC, as well as officials from ASIS International (Riyadh Chapter) and Security Control Co., Ltd., which in turn organized the conference and exhibition. This was done to examine the important topics presented in this regard over the course of several months, resulting in the selection of the best working papers needed by industrial security officials in the Kingdom and the region. Cooperation also took place with international academics, consultants, and specialists, as well as two prominent international associations—ASIS and IOSH—to provide scientific support for the conference and to accredit the certificates awarded by the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security at the Ministry of Interior to participants in theand workshops.
