The House of Umar Step by Step - (29) ... Prepared by Majed Almuhaimeed

After the contractor finishes the reinforcement work for the hollow core slab roof, preparations and coordination are made with the supervising engineer to set a date for receiving the roof reinforcement. The contractor then lifts the steel from the formwork. If the roof reinforcement is "normal," the contractor will install the roof reinforcement according to the plan. It should be noted that a normal roof requires drop beams to connect the columns. A drawback of this roof system is the presence of these drop beams, which are suspended from the roof by a distance that may reach 50 cm or more. There is no doubt that the presence of drop beams is considered an architectural defect, especially when it is in rooms with large areas. In addition, it obstructs the movement of air ducts between rooms. Also, in the future, if one of the walls is removed, the drop beam cannot be removed and must resort to some decorative solutions in the roof to hide it. It restricts you in the design, as the design of the ground floor when the roof is "normal," you are obligated to make the first floor exactly the same as the ground floor. It does not achieve sound insulation.

The hollow core slab ceiling is characterized by the freedom to design each floor separately without being restricted by the locations of the columns. It achieves more sound and heat insulation than a regular ceiling. It allows freedom for the extension of air ducts. It allows for the possibility of removing walls in the future and opening rooms to other rooms without any dropped beams in the ceiling.

The "regular" roof is used at the level of the annexes, whether external or roof annexes, and the hollow core roof is the best, despite the difference in material costs in favor of the «hollow core» by a percentage of almost double, as it is the most expensive in terms of the quantity of reinforcing steel, concrete, in addition to the costs of the hollow core.

At this time, and before the completion of the roof reinforcement work, coordination is made with the plumber, electrician, and air conditioning company to determine the date for them to start the roof work, each according to his specialization. The date is after the supervising engineer receives the reinforcement steel immediately, and the materials necessary to complete this stage are recorded, namely the plumbing and electrical materials.

At the level of the extensions, the contractor must make an inverted beam with a height of no less than 30 cm and preferably 40 cm. Some people are satisfied with making inverted beams using blocks, and this is completely unacceptable, as the inverted beam limits the creeping of the tiles caused by weather conditions when the tiles expand. If there is a block "inverted beam", it cannot stop the creeping of the tiles, but rather you notice the appearance of cracks under the inverted beams implemented with blocks, and this has negative effects on the waterproofing work, as the creeping of the tiles causes the waterproofing to tear and results in weak points for the waterproofing that are a way for rainwater leaks.

How is a wired network installed inside a house?

Networks are established within buildings, regardless of their purpose, during the structural phase (skeleton). It is advisable to contact a company specializing in communication networks and security systems to determine the requirements as needed, so that plans can be prepared by them or by the design office, and the establishment can be based on these plans. Note that this can be done during the finishing phase and before starting the plastering work, which involves some demolition and other things.
