With the participation of 55 speakers across 11 scientific sessions, the first Urban Planning Forum will kick off in Riyadh, organized by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs from March 29-31 under the theme «Modern Trends in Urban Planning» under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz - may God protect him.
On this occasion, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs for City Planning, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Sheikh, explained that the forum discusses several important issues about the future of cities in the Kingdom, most notably urban densification planning around public transport stations, major transportation projects, smart cities, and reviews some findings about the Saudi urban planning system."
Al al-Sheikh said that the forum, which is held in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat UN-HABITAT), is a framework to bring together specialists, decision-makers and interested parties to discuss the future of Saudi cities in light of modern trends in urban planning, environment, urban legislation, urban management and community participation, and reviews international best practices through a group of speakers, decision-makers and experts from around the world.
Al al-Sheikh explained that the forum is organized in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat Saudi Arabia. Al-Sheikh revealed the forum's programs, which include panel discussions by specialists and academics on the future of city planning, global, regional and local experiences, effective coordination between regional and municipal councils, a review of the national urban campaign - the city we want, and the launch of a number of local initiatives to develop cities.
