Al-Baha Municipality supports the implementation of the Sarawat Mountains architecture in cooperation with engineering offices and contractors

Al-Baha Municipality and the engineering sector meet to discuss the design guidelines for the identity of the architecture of the Sarawat Mountains

ABaha Municipality, represented by the Studies and Designs Agency, organized an introductory workshop on the design guidelines of Saudi architecture in the Sarawat Mountains model, at the Municipality's theater, in the presence of Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Sowat, Secretary of Al-Baha Region, and a number of leaders, representatives of engineering offices and contractors, in the presence of the Secretary of Al-Baha Region.<The workshop witnessed the attendance of (25) engineering offices out of 35 invited offices, in addition to the participation of more than (29) engineers, confirming the interest of the engineering sector in contributing to the implementation of the Saudi Architecture Guidelines.

The workshop reviewed the themes and objectives associated with the design guidelines, which included introducing the identity of the Sarawat Mountains, clarifying the design principles and standards associated with the urban identity, reviewing the most prominent challenges and obstacles during implementation by engineering offices, as well as promoting integration between the relevant authorities.

Strengthening the urban identity of the region
The Under-Secretary for Studies and Designs, Engineer Khalid bin Abdullatif, stressed that the Municipality of Al-Baha region has received two architectural styles that reflect its geographical and cultural specificity, based on the results of previous joint field tours between the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Entities Support Center, noting that this architectural diversity represents an added value that enhances <a href="https://amlak. net.sa/77527/He explained that the Municipality is working in partnership with engineering offices to implement this national project, which contributes to achieving a balance between the originality of the urban identity and the requirements of modern design, indicating that this workshop comes to enhance awareness of the design guidelines and achieve its objectives.<He added that the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has worked, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to implement the national project and issue the relevant principles and standards, as well as legislative regulations for violations, including those related to the work of engineering offices.
For his part, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Swat, Secretary of Al-Baha Region, explained that the specificity of architecture in the Kingdom's regions was previously affected by the spread of international style and modern architecture, although traditional architecture remains a witness in Al-Baha region and its association with the geographical and climatic environment, which contributes to its distinctiveness among the regions of the Kingdom.

Urban Design Studio
He explained that the Municipality of Al-Baha includes an urban design studio concerned with issuing licenses for residential buildings according to the models of Saudi architecture, while the strategic office for the Al-Baha region activates and applies Saudi architecture for commercial buildings and issues licenses in this regard, and the Municipality and municipalities regulate land uses in terms of setbacks and heights for residential and commercial buildings.He stressed that engineering offices represent the most important element in the implementation of the identity of Saudi architecture, as they are the party that deals directly with the beneficiaries, which requires them to raise awareness among customers, provide the best architectural and engineering solutions, and prepare designs according to the identity of Saudi architecture.

He pointed out that this workshop is the first of a series of upcoming workshops, during which the strategic office in Al-Baha region, engineering offices, engineering colleges at Al-Baha University, as well as contractors, will be invited, in order to enhance integration and achieve the objectives of urban development in the region.
