City Design Studio explores how to take urban identity to new heights

An introductory workshop brings together experts and architecture enthusiasts to discuss the features of Medina's future urban identity as part of the Saudi Architecture Initiative

The Medina Design Studio, part of the Medina Development Authority, recently organized an introductory workshop entitled “Rooting Medina's Urban Identity: Towards New Horizons”, in cooperation with the Medina Chamber, with the participation of engineering and consulting offices, engineering and design students, a number of faculty members from Taibah University and Prince Muqrin University, as well as a group of real estate developers and those interested in architecture and urban identity in the city.<The workshop comes to promote the concepts associated with establishing the urban identity and formulating its future features according to an integrated methodology that combines conscious understanding and inspiring application.

The workshop reviewed the concept of “<a href="https://amlak.net.Saudi Architecture as an integrated urban concept that aims to introduce the authentic and diverse architecture in different regions of the Kingdom and promote it through controls and design guidelines based on achieving a balance between originality and modernity, guiding the architectural and urban design process towards contemporary solutions that reflect aesthetic and heritage values and contribute to the development of a modern urban environment rooted in the local character.<The workshop addressed several themes, including the Saudi Architecture Initiative in terms of strategic objectives and implementation, the role of the City Design Studio and the challenges associated with it, the future features of Medina's urban identity through a reading of concepts, reality and trends, as well as a review of the requirements of the standardized model for project delivery.<Within the framework of the Saudi Architecture initiative, the workshop seeks to elevate Medina's urban identity and enrich the urban landscape by providing a supportive and stimulating professional environment and forming an intellectual and professional reference for the urban sector.
