Baha Municipality, represented by the Design Studio, organized a series of specialized individual workshops entitled “Design Guidelines for the architecture of the Sarawat Mountains” as a continuation of the group workshops carried out by the Municipality, within its ongoing efforts to develop the urban landscape and enhance the urban identity in harmony with the environmental and cultural characteristics of the region.<The workshops aimed to build an integrated understanding of the design guidelines for the architecture of the Sarawat Mountains as a comprehensive guiding framework that supports architectural decision-making and contributes to raising the quality of design outputs from the early stages of projects, promoting sustainability and achieving a balance between originality and modernity.
The workshops addressed the presentation of the general vision of the guidelines and the mechanisms for reading and applying them, in addition to highlighting the characteristics of Local architecture in the Sarawat Mountains, including traditional architectural styles, composition elements, mass ratios and facade treatments, in addition to clarifying the principles of selecting materials and colors and ways to employ them in line with the natural and urban character of the region.
The workshops also reviewed the importance of enhancing the relationship between buildings and the surrounding urban landscape by taking into account the visual and environmental context and achieving integration between urban projects and the natural surroundings, which contributes to improving the quality of life and raising the efficiency of the urban environment.The workshops included practical applications of the design guidelines from the initial idea and conceptualization stage, through the stages of development and detailed design, to submission and review, enabling participants to effectively employ these guidelines in their projects.
This initiative comes within the framework of the Municipality's keenness to empower specialists and interested parties and develop local capabilities in the fields of urban design to support the achievement of the objectives of sustainable urban development and enhance the presence of the distinctive architectural identity of the Al Baha region.
The workshops also reviewed the importance of enhancing the relationship between buildings and the surrounding urban landscape by taking into account the visual and environmental context and achieving the integration of urban projects with the natural surroundings, thus contributing to the improvement of life and the efficiency of the urban environment.
