The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), in cooperation with the Qatar Central Bank, announced the gradual acceptance of the national payment network “Mada” cards in Qatar and the national payment card “Hemyan” in Saudi Arabia.
The acceptance of the national payment cards of the two countries represents an extension of the existing cooperation and integration in the field of payments between the Kingdom and the sisterly State of Qatar, and a support for the joint Gulf efforts aimed at developing the joint Gulf infrastructure for payments, and expanding the scope of acceptance of Gulf national cards, in line with the strategic objectives within the framework of the economic and financial integration process among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
It is worth mentioning that the Gulf Payments Network is one of the important strategic foundations that enables citizens and residents in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to make cash withdrawals from ATMs and make payments through the Gulf network’s debit cards via point-of-sale devices, which enhances the ease, efficiency, and cost reduction of payments for customers, and contributes to raising the level of quality of services provided to citizens and residents in the GCC countries.
