The Kingdom has achieved first place among 140 countries in the 2013 Travel and Tourism Annual Data Competitiveness Index for the second time in a row.

The Kingdom maintained its regional and global ranking among countries in the competitiveness of Saudi travel and tourism between the 2011 report of 139 countries and this year's 2013 report, coming in sixth place in the regional ranking in both years, as well as sixty-second place in the global ranking in the two reports.
The Acting Director General of the Tourism Information and Research Center (MAS) at the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, Munther Al-Ansari, explained that the Center was nominated by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as a capacity building center in the field of tourism statistics and tourism sub-account for the Middle East region, as the Kingdom was the first country in the region to apply the account in an integrated manner according to UNWTO standards.
