Council of Ministers: Measures to address factories located outside of industrial cities

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, chaired the session of the Council of Ministers, held on Monday, 05 Jumada al-Khairi 1434 AH, at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhyiddin Khoja reported that the Council continued discussing its agenda and issued the following decisions:
After reviewing the report submitted by His Royal Highness the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs regarding the minutes of the committee formed pursuant to Royal Decree No. 3/B/36524 dated 14/7/1425H to study the phenomenon of the spread of factories outside the sites designated for industrial cities in the regions of the Kingdom, the Cabinet approved a number of measures, including the following:
First - The situation of factories located outside the sites allocated for industrial cities in the regions of the Kingdom shall be addressed by taking into account the following:
With regard to existing factories located outside the sites designated for industrial activities, a committee (or more) shall be formed in each administrative region consisting of representatives from a number of government agencies to inventory all factories located outside the sites designated for industrial activities, identify them, collect information and data for each factory, study the situation of each factory separately in light of the available information, propose recommendations and appropriate solutions to address its situation, correct it, remain on its site or transfer it to the site designated for its activity if the health and environmental standards do not apply, and determine the sufficient period of time to make this correction. With regard to factories that will be established in the future:
a. The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs shall allocate land for industrial use in appropriate locations in various regions of the Kingdom. B - The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones shall prepare and develop the lands allocated for industrial use, to establish industrial cities on them, and encourage the private sector to establish developed industrial cities outside the main cities.
