Riyadh-Amlak
The actual number of lands obtained by the Ministry of Housing amounted to about a third of its needs to establish housing projects that are currently being implemented in a number of regions of the Kingdom, in implementation of the Supreme Order to implement half a million housing units estimated at a cost of 250 billion riyals.
This was revealed by an official source at the Ministry of Housing in a press statement, explaining that the ministry suffers from encroachments on some of the sites allocated for its housing projects, in addition to suffering from the contractors implementing the ongoing projects.
The source explained that the ministry has detected a deficit by some of the contractors implementing its projects despite their high rating and that the reality of the situation indicated that many of them are not competent enough to implement the projects, as low completion rates were detected for a number of them compared to the timetables.
He pointed out that the ministry is facing difficulty in obtaining suitable lands to establish its housing projects, especially in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif, Medina and Abha, where the ministry has obtained about one third of what it needs, in addition to the fact that some of these lands are located in areas far from the urban area and services.
The source expressed concern about the distance of the ministry's current lands from the main cities, which will cost the state a lot of money to connect services, in addition to the fact that these projects may not be satisfied in the future due to their distance from the cities, revealing that the ministry is working with regional emirates and municipalities to reach a solution to this issue.
